Dodge announced the release of its 2014 Durango on August 14, 2013, having a starting market price of $29,795, which is believed to go up to $40,995.
Dodge is launching this vehicle with its standard as well as some new enhanced features including improvement in power-fuel consumption and efficiency. Durango is expected to give a tough time to its competitors such as Toyota Tundra and Ford Super Duty trucks because of its 8-speed automatic transmission and unusual size.
The vehicle is equipped with the best HEMI V8 engine that has been rated at 360 hp, and produces 380 lb ft of torque with cylinder deactivation fuel. According to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Durango fuel efficiency is 25 miles per gallon. The exclusive rotary shift knob, and paddle shifters provide up to 15 percent improvement in fuel and performance. The AWD system, specifically designed for V8 engines, offers a low-range feature for off-road usage. The predecessor, V6 Durango, had the capability to tow 6,200 pounds, but in V8, this capacity has been increased to 7,400 pounds. All Durangos are fitted with trailer sway control feature.
The 2014 Durango will be available in SXT, Rallye, Limited, R/T and Citadel trim levels. The Limited model is equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED, signal side mirrors, leather upholstery, wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, A/C, rear view camera, vehicle security alarm, 3D navigation, and Alpine audio system.
The headlights, bumper and grille have been redesigned for the year 2014. The Durango models can seat around 7 adults, easily.
As always, the all new 2014 Dodge Durango offers buyers to choose between two engines. The standard models come with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, while the top models are equipped with 5.7L HEMI V8 engines. The HEMI V8 engines have an additional feature of Fuel Saver with cylinder deactivation technology.
Both the engines are coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission that lessens fuel consumption of up to 9 percent. The 2014 Dodge also encompass Eco Mode feature – it is capable to reduce fuel consumption by optimizing the Fuel Saver technology.
The most important factor of Durango’s speed and efficient enhancement is the ZF 8-speed transmission. The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) displays information about the fuel economy and oil temperature. The controls, including that of door handles and the cup holders are illuminated in icy-blue.
After redesigning the grille, headlamps and bumper, Dodge has added xenon high-intensity lights along with a textured grille and a raised front bumper. The Rallye, Limited, R/T and Citadel trims are equipped with standard projector beam headlamps and LED lamps. The seats are covered with fabric upholstery with slight tilting capability in the second and third row seats.
The interior is impressive with redesigned center stack. The steering wheel has been redesigned with the paddle shifters and the manual shift function of the gearbox. It also has a standard full color 7-inch screen with larger illuminated buttons. 2014 Durango’s cargo compartment is 17 cubic feet.
The new 2014 Dodge Durango has been updated with SUV’s electronic suspension and characteristic brakes – an added advantage to Durango’s driving experience. The customers can make a choice among 7 wheels ranging from 18-inch to 20-inch wheels in size. All the wheels are aluminum with silver paint.
Dodge Durango 2014 will be competing with Toyota Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, GMC Acadia, Ford Explorer, KIA Sorento, Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot and Range Rover Sport. The newly added 8-power automatic transmission in Durango will surely place it on top of the customer’s wish list as soon as it is released – sometime during the third quarter of 2013 or in the beginning of 2014.
