Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is an exciting competitor to the Ferrari 812 Superfast.
The all-new DBS Superleggera is adequately the replacement for the Vanquish S. This Super GT has revived two of the great badges from the past; the DBS badge that James Bond was driving in Casino Royale and the Superleggera of the original 1967 DB Mark 1 series Superleggera. This is the fastest and most powerful regular production car the British auto manufacturer has produced.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has taken up from where the last generation DB11 V12 Vantage left. The DBS Superleggera adorns a mighty bi-turbo 5.2 litre V12 that is capable enough to produce 715 bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The immense power is shifted to the rear wheels via a carbon fibre prop shaft and an eight-speed automatic transmission that can catapult the car in the fourth gear from 50-100 mph in just 4.2 seconds. By tuning the V12 engine and using a new exhaust system with quad tailpipes and active valves, the DBS Superleggera roars down the lane at a max of 211 mph. The top speed matches its Italian rival’s; the 812 Superfast.
Superleggera means “super light” in Italian and thus this Super GT is 72 kilograms lighter than the DB11 V12 Vantage. The weight loss is possible due to the full carbon fibre body panels. The Superleggera can do 0-62 mph merely in 3.4 seconds and 0-100 mph in 6.4 seconds. Aston Martin has honed the dynamics of this very, very fast car so that even the less experienced drivers can enjoy it.
Although Aston Martin has produced some extreme and hyper sports cars such as the Vulcan, Valkyrie and the One-77; they were all extremely expensive and exclusive. The DBS Superleggera will be more practical and affordable compared to the above models as it will fancy a price tag of $300,000 and won’t be exclusive to a limited production.
