The New York auto show proved overwhelming for Porsche fans when the company revealed the new Boxster Spyder which is quite similar to Cayman GT4 in terms of looks. The new Spyder is surely a surprising return to the Boxster series.
Porsche has kept the prestige of the Boxster by making this machine lighter compared to the regular lineup with sports suspension which makes it 20mm lower in height. It employs brakes of 911 Carrera and bumpers from Cayman GT4.
Looking under the hood, you will find a 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine providing 375 HP and 310 lb.-ft of torque. The manual transmission employed in this Boxster is capable of achieving a top speed of 180mph (289.6 km/h).
The interior provides faux suede sports seats which can be upgraded to leather on demand. Steering wheel diameter has been reduced plus the radio and air conditioning have been removed to keep the weight low, however, both can be installed free of cost.
The 20-inch wheels along with black Bi-Xenon™ headlights, smoked tail lights and the distinct rear spoiler give this roadster a true sporty look.
The Boxster Spyder is said to be the most powerful and fastest Boxster by Porsche. It is expected to hit the US markets in October 2016 carrying a price tag of $82,100.
