An Overview
As the New Year is launched with great anticipation, it also brings in new hopes and higher expectations for the automobile industry. We all are expecting innovations and improved technology and hopefully we will get it at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which is the most inspirational motor show since the last decade.
It started off in Detroit in the year 1907 with a bang, having the title “Detroit Auto Show” organized by the Detroit Area Dealer Association. Initially, it was hosted within the regional boundaries, but an overwhelming interest of people towards automotive industry motivated the NAIAS officials and the Detroit Auto Dealers Association to widen the range of the show to a global level. It was only a matter of years that the show gained global recognition and started obtaining even bigger volumes of participation. The NAIAS showcases some of the most renowned automotive industry giants and their state of the art innovative automotive technology. Manufacturers including Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Porche showcased their vehicles in the initial years of the show. The motive behind the show basically was to compete with other regional auto shows, however it grew so popular that it became the most successful auto show in the world. It was in 1989 when the show got its official name “North American International Auto Show” based on the global concentration towards it. The NAIAS began to receive sponsorships from renowned media and technology contributors like Microsoft and the TIME Magazine, which enabled the show to uplift its potential to the next level. The NAIAS last year was indeed an event to remember where over 60 new vehicles with intriguing features were showcased to the global audience that resulted in increased sales for the manufacturers.
