Though it is not Ford in the race for making driverless cars, the CEO of Ford motors Mark Fields forecasts that fully autonomous vehicles are for real. Auto makers are vying for making self-driving vehicles that transport people safely in crowded city areas. These cars may not have a steering wheel or brake pedal but can steer its way on an auto pilot mode, more efficiently reducing traffic troubles on the roads.
Dieter Zetsche, CEO Daimler AG (DAI) opened Mercedes-Benz F 015, a car that transport people driverless. It is a four seated vehicle including driver’s, all facing each other than facing the road. Passengers monitor six screens full of information and can control with eye gestures. Mary Barra CEO General Motors said, GM is are planning to introduce the driverless technology in the Cadillac cars on the roads in two years.
If this technology is for real, then the government regulators need to revamp the rules of the road for the new species of vehicles. It’s the technology capability that matters most for each of the companies which are in the race of making driverless cars.
