The SP or Special Project was launched by Ferrari in 2007, to give the wealthy customers an option of personalizing their cars making them unique and distinguished from normal models. We have collected the information on all these models and made a list of these special customized cars. Without further ado, let’s check them out;
2008 Ferrari SP1
This was the first car produced by Ferrari for Japanese collector Junichiro Hiramatsu. It was designed by the famous designer Leonardo Fioravanti; former Pininfarina designer. This car was admired from the 1998 F100 prototype and was based on the F430.
2009 P540 Superfast Aperta
The P540 Aperta is based on the 599 GTB Fiorano. It was specially made for Edward Walson; the wealthy son of the cable television inventor. It was inspired by the Carrozzeria Fantuzzi designed model which was featured in 1968 Fellini film Toby Dammit. It has an engine which produces 612bhp, 448lb ft of torque and a Copenhagen-troubling 415g/km of CO2. It can go 0-60 mph in a mere 4 seconds.
2011 Superamerica 45
This super-fast car was made for the New York collector Peter Kalikow. It is a convertible, 6 cylinders, and 6000ccm model. It was made by the two giants of the automotive industry; Pininfarina and Ferrari. The car was modified with a carbon fiber drop top and the bodywork was reshaped to reduce the drag. It was built on the 45th anniversary of Kalikow becoming a Ferrari client. It also contains a new age infotainment system.
2012 SP12 EC
This one is yet another masterpiece from Ferrari and Pininfarina. It was specially made for the well-known guitarist Eric Clapton; from which the initials EC came from. It is inspired by the 512 BB that is enclosed in a 458 Italia. This car is a tribute to the legendary career of this guitar god and his long tenure as a Ferrari owner. The car is impressively clean and a perfect combination of retro and the classic BB styling cue.
2013 Ferrari SP30
Ferrari SP30 or the Arya SP is a customized 599 GTO which was built for Cheerag Arya. This car has made no public appearances except for one press release by Mr. Arya himself. It contains 5999cc engine and the roof aping of Bertone Mantide, the sideswipes and headlights of an F12 along with the aero aids of a 599XX.
Ferrari SP FFX
The Ferrari SP FFX is a special edition of Ferrari FF. it consists of a customized body in which the FF’s shooting brake trail is replaced by a more traditional coupe rear end. The car is made for a customer in Japan by the Ferrari’s special vehicles division.
2014 F12 TRS
It is based on the F12 Berlinetta but it is inspired from the 1957 250 Testa Rossa. It has a 6.3-liter V12 engine which can produce 730 horsepower, which is the same as LaFerrari and FF. it can do 0-62mph in 3.1sec and has a top speed of 200mph.
2014 Ferrari SP America
The SP America is based on the F12Berlinetta. The owner is still unknown but he sure has a great taste for cars. A Targa-style roof was designed and a modified hood with three vents is used. It also contains unique vents on the fenders and has larger wheels. It has a 6.3L V12 engine which can produce a power of 740 stallions along with 508 pound-feet of torque and can go 0-60mph in just 3.1sec and has a top speed of 211mph.
2016 458 MM Speciale
It was made on the same stripped out chassis having a 597 bhp, the 4.5-litre V8 engine just like the Speciale but the visuals have been changed significantly. The brief is more aggressive, sporting lines and glass area has a helmet like ‘visor’ effect. The A-pillars are painted black just like the 1984 GTO to give it a seamless look. The rear and front bumpers are bigger and sportier and an air scoop is added on the flanks and a spoiler on the decklid. It can go 0-62 in just 3sec, 124mph in 9.4 secs and have a top speed of 199mph.
2016 SP275 RW Competizone
This car is also designed by Ferrari and Pininfarina. It is inspired by the 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C; that has won in GT class at the 1965 24 hours of Le Mans. It is built on the chassis of an F12berlinetta with an all-new more powerful engine and gearbox. There are ventilation slots behind the front wheel and above the rear wheel arches. It can go 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds and have a top speed of 211mph.
2017 Ferrari J50
It was launched on the celebration of 50th anniversary of Ferrari in Japan. It is made exclusively for the Japanese customers and only 10 J50s will be made and each one will be customized especially for its owner. The J50’s body is customized with a huge amount of modifications; there are a whole new spoiler and quad taillights and the engine lid is completely new as well having a transparent polycarbonate cover. It is also a tribute to the popular Ferraris of the 1970s and 1980s. A two-piece Targa top made of carbon fiber is used instead 488’s folding hardtop. The horsepower is also increased to 681hps.
2018 Ferrari SP38
It is based on the 488 GTB; an iconic supercar. The SP38 is the greatest car made on the 488 GTB. It has a whole new body, contains the bumper lips of 308GTB, tailor-made interior, redesigned side intakes and an F40 inspired Wing and hood and thin and inset headlamps. The whole body is painted in the three-layer metallic red paint. The rear look is completely new unlike any current Ferrari; it has a big spoiler, quad tail lights with a thin grille in the center. The exhaust pipes are also relocated to create a more race inspired look. The Ferrari SP38 is said to have a twin-turbo, 3.9L V8 engine which can produce the power of 660 horses and a torque of 560 pound-feet of torque. It is extremely fast as well it can go from 0-62mph in exactly 3 seconds and has a top of speed of 205mph.
